What the check is

A free tool that looks for other public pages carrying the same words or photo files as a website you name. Its results are leads to look at. They are not a finding that anyone copied anything, and they are not legal advice.

What it is not

It does not find every copy. It sees what search engines show and only matches the same words in the same order or the same file. Dates it shows come from public sources that can be wrong or missing. Before you act on a result, read the page yourself and check the dates.

Using it fairly

Run it on sites you own or are responsible for. Do not run it automatically, in bulk, or in a way meant to get around the limits. We may block connections that do.

If you send a notice

You are responsible for any notice you send. Under US law a takedown notice is made under penalty of perjury, and a notice you know or should know is wrong can make you liable for the other side's costs (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)). If you are unsure, speak to a lawyer first.

No warranty

The check is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made on its results.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
